"With a Whisper and a Roar"
Eastern Airlines was instrumental in the launch of the Boeing 727, and helped to make it one of Boeing's most successful airliners. By early 1978, more than 1,500 had been built. This painting's title is a play on words by the artist. Because the engines were located on the aircraft's tail section, Eastern called their 727s Whisperjets. However, anyone who has flown on the 727 can attest they make one hell of a roar, thus the title: "With a Whisper and a Roar".

Original painting is 24" X 30" Acrylic on stretched canvas. Limited Edition print: Image: 9 3/4" X 12 1/8". Overall: 12 1/4" X 14 5/8". Archival 80LB acid-free paper. 4-Color Process Lithograph. Certificate of Authenticity. Edition: 500 Signed & Numbered by the Artist. $45.00 plus S&H.
"Morning Electra!"
Though the Electra was one of the most tested airliners of its day, two unexplainable crashes shortly after it began service in the late 1950's gave the airliner a very bad name. The cause of the crashes was eventually determined, and Lockheed launched a massive recall program through which all Electras underwent extensive wing and engine nacelle modifications to ward off a deadly force known as "whirlmode". Eastern Airlines was the last major US airline to operate the Electra in regular passenger service. On November 1, 1977, Eastern retired its last L-188 from the Washington - New York Shuttle.
