"Cats Have Claws"
The Consolidated PBY Catalina was considered obsolete by the U.S. Navy in 1939.  However, the "Cat" turned out to be the best anti-sub aircraft available at the start of the Battle of the Atlantic because of it's range, capacity, and durability and was employed by many countries for ASW. This print features a PBY-5A Catalina in early W.W.II U.S. markings engaged in a running battle with the scourge of the North Atlantic - a German type VII U-Boat.

Lockheed P2V-7 Neptune.jpg (40101 bytes) "Ruler of the Sea"
The Lockheed Neptunes were land-based patrol aircraft specifically designed for the purpose of anti-submarine warfare. Designed and built in the 1940-50s they were among the last generation of piston-engine aircraft that flew for the U.S. Navy.  The Neptunes operated well into the 1970s when they were eventually all replaced by the newer P-3 Orions.

The first flight of a Viking occurred in 1972 and operations began in 1974. The last S-3A was delivered in 1978 and most have been upgraded to 'B' models which featured Harpoon air-to-surface missile capability.

This print "Sorry Charlie" depicts a P-3B Orion banking over and inspecting a Soviet 'Charlie' class submarine. This lithograph  was commissioned by the VP-90 crew in Illinois.
